L1000061FAR AWAY, SO CLOSE
Due to no internet-access in the past 24 hours, here’s yesterday’s post now. I met with 8 school-kids yesterday, who had the opportunity to take part in a special astronomy-program. Under the supervision of LCOGT’s outreach expert Abiy Tekola, the teenagers used the Las Cumbres Observatory Global Telescope Network for astronomical observations – detecting objects such as galaxies and star clusters. Following up on their observations, they did research about the respective targets and put down their insights in an essay. Concluding the project, they took a trip to the Science Museum in Cape Town. When asked about his experience with this project, Jamie said: “I now realize how small we are, and how insignificant our differences.”
